Continued unsettled as low pressure moves away with a few lingering rain or snow showers tapering to drizzle

Today’s Weather Synopsis…

A secondary area of low pressure off the New England coast will continue to provide a chance of wintry mix this morning across the region. Precipitation will vary from snow and sleet to plain rain in some spots. Rain and wintry mix will taper to some drizzle or freezing drizzle this afternoon as upper level trough exits south of the region. As some low level moisture remains trapped at the surface into this evening, areas of freezing drizzle will continue with some slick travel possible before some drying occurs after midnight.

An upper level ridge and an associated area of high pressure will then gradually build in on Thursday with fair and seasonably mild weather through Friday, although more clouds than sunshine are to be expected. A weakening disturbance will track south of the region on Friday night, but most areas will remain dry. Dry weather will continue through the weekend before an upper level low begins to approach from the Tennessee Valley later on Sunday bringing the next chance of precipitation late Sunday night into early next week.
