Drying out and turning milder, but unsettled weather looms for end of weekend

Today’s Weather Synopsis…

A weakening disturbance will exit the region this morning with morning clouds and patchy fog with some drizzle ending. Some breaks of sun may develop into this afternoon, especially in southern areas, but clouds may tend to hold tough. It will be drier and mild with high temperatures nearing 50 degrees in valley locations.

An upper level low will begin to approach from the Tennessee Valley on Sunday as a coastal low pressure system develops bringing the next chance of precipitation late Sunday into Monday. This system looks to bring rain initially to the region as temperatures remain mild, but could eventually change to snow or a wintry mix in some areas as colder air is drawn southward, with the greatest chances for any snow accumulations in the higher terrain. Regardless, this slow-moving system looks to bring a significant amount of precipitation to the region and possibly as a potpourri of precipitation types, so it would be wise to stay tuned to the latest forecasts as there remains considerable uncertainty. The storm will begin to exit on Tuesday night with improving conditions into Wednesday with another brief period of dry weather.
