High pressure briefly brings dry and seasonably cool weather, but clouds increase late

Today’s Weather Synopsis…

High pressure will build across the region from the west today with dry and seasonable conditions returning for all areas, but the brief break in unsettled weather will not last. Clouds will begin to increase later this afternoon and into tonight as a warm front approaches from the west. This front and a weak trough of low pressure will bring some light snow to the region into Monday. Some minor accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are possible, with slightly higher amounts in the higher terrain. Snow will taper off on Monday afternoon, possibly even ending as some rain or drizzle in valley locations.

Another small area of high pressure will move across the region on Monday night and into early Tuesday with dry weather returning, before the next storm system arrives on Tuesday. Clouds will increase again with light rain or snow showers arriving in the afternoon as a cold front approaches from the west. In addition, a storm system will be moving out of the Tennessee Valley on Tuesday night and Wednesday with more unsettled weather expected through mid-week.
